Wednesday July 13th-Scan’s Cones For Kids

On Wednesday, July 13 at 6 PM – 8 PM The Stop Child Abuse and Neglect (SCAN) program of Lutheran Social Services will be holding a fundraiser at the Racine Masonic Center / Henry S. Durand Mansion located at 1012 Main Street to help provide child abuse awareness lessons to students in southeastern Wisconsin. We currently provide lessons to preschoolers, kindergarteners, 2nd, 4th and 6th grade students in Racine and Kenosha County’s schools. We are asking for your support for our upcoming fundraiser to further our mission.

We will be holding our 5th annual fundraiser, called SCAN’s Cones for Kids, which will include an ice cream tasting, family activities, and a silent auction for family-friendly prizes. This is a unique fundraiser since it allows kids to help other kids.

During the 2015-2016 school year, SCAN taught lessons to nearly 11,000 youth. Students are taught to recognize abusive situations, to disclose abuse should it occur, and to identify sources of support. Above all, we want children to understand that abuse is never the fault of the child. Funds raised at the 2015 Cones For Kids, will continue to expand this initiative.
