Racine man charged in connection with September 20th Hit & Run on Sheridan Road

Abrey D Mayweather, of Racine has been charged with felony Hit and Run-Involve Great Bodily Harm and was given a $2,000 Signature bond after appearing in Racine Courts on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the criminal complaint on September 20,2016 Mount Pleasant Police were dispatched to Highway 32, dispatch was stating that a man had been shot. Upon arrival officers found 3 victims, one was uninjured but appeared to be in shock, one with what officers thought was a graze wound to the leg and one victim was sitting in the median with a shirt covering his face screaming he had been shot. All three parties were transported to the hospital for treatment.

Officers searched the area and found a large amount of glass and parts of a vehicle mirror at the scene. Hospital personnel informed police that none of the parties had been shot but the injuries were consistent with a motor vehicle accident.

A short time later, Kenosha County Sheriff’s Deputies found the defendants vehicle in the back yard of a residence in Somers with fresh damage from an accident.

The defendant met with investigators later that day and stated that he woke up that day and got ready for work and was driving on Highway 32-Sheridan Road when he hit something but didn’t realize what it was and didn’t know it was a person until he saw it later on the news
