american flagRacine and Kenosha County Host Stand Down for Homeless Veterans and Veterans Informational/Benefits Fair October 1, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Racine Family YMCA-Lakefront Branch Racine – Racine County and Kenosha County are partnering to host the 2016 Stand Down for Homeless Veterans and Veterans Informational/Benefits Fair on October 1, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Racine Family YMCA-Lakefront Branch, located at 725 Lake Avenue, Racine. The event targets all veterans and their spouses, but has a specific focus on homeless veterans.

“Stand Down is critically important for helping the men and women who proudly served our country meet immediate needs and make long-term connections with community resources,” said Jonathan Delagrave, Racine County Executive.

Event highlights include:
 No cost services such as housing, legal assistance, flu shots, haircuts, homeless programs, clothing, financial assistance, vision screening, and eligibility/enrollment for benefits.
 Free transportation from Kenosha beginning at 7:45 a.m. The van will pick up at 8600 Sheridan Road and drop off at the Stand Down event. There will be two pick-ups from 7:45 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and hourly pick-ups/drop offs during the event and two drop offs from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
 Community organization booths featuring programs and services offered throughout the community.
