No injuries in Wednesday morning fire on Sovereign Drive

RFD logoOn Wednesday August 3,2016  at 9:27 a.m., the Racine Fire Department along with the Racine Police Department responded for a house fire at 3704 Sovereign Dr.  The fire started in a second floor bedroom. The cause of a fire this morning remains under investigation. The fire occurred in a side by side duplex in the Georgetown area of Racine. Direct damage due to fire exposure was limited to the room of origin however the rest of the unit sustained smoke, heat and water damage. The unit is not habitable. The fire did not spread to the adjacent unit. The family was able to self evacuate after the fire was discovered. The fire was quickly contained and extinguished by Racine Fire crews. Red Cross was contacted to aid the family with their immediate needs. Fire loss is estimated at $20,000 according to the Racine Fire Department
