handcuffsA 38 year old Racine woman has been charged with two counts of misdemeanor Resisting or Obstructing an Officer. She was given a $500 cash bond after appearing in Racine Circuit Courts on Thursday. Her pre-trial appearance is scheduled for October 27,2016

According to the criminal complaint on September 28,2016 Investigators with the Racine Police Department responded to assist in a missing person’s report. The Investigator met with officers and the mother of two children who were allegedly missing. At 11:17 a.m. the mother reported her children missing to Racine Police and stated that her 2 children ages 12 and 8 were not in school.

The mother told police that she had left for work earlier that morning and another party to pick them up and take them to school. Numerous officers assisted in the canvas of the neighborhood and were still searching for them at 1:24 p.m., the complaint reads.

Investigators advised that during the course of her investigation the mother allegedly stated her friend had stayed at her home the night before which lead investigators to contact this person. The criminal complaint states that the mother initially provided the incorrect number for this party after looking at her phone. When investigators spoke with the witness she told them that she had missed a call from the mother of the children at 12:32 p.m.  and at 12:46 p.m when the witness called the defendant back she stated she did not know where her children were.

The criminal complaint states that at 12:52 the defendant asked the witness to pick the children up from home because if they found out they were there alone she could go to jail. The witness picked the children up and notified the defendant at 1:33 p.m., the children were with them.

Investigators reveal the defendant continued to tell police she did not know where her children were and allowed officers to continue to search for them after she spoke with the witness and at a minimum time of 2:15 p.m. when she left to return a vehicle she was using to the owner.

Please note we are not naming the defendant to protect the identity of the children
