Apple Holler offers Nostalgic Horse-Drawn Sleigh Rides

horse-1RACINE, WISCONSIN, December 6, 2016…. Apple Holler is one of the few places in the Milwaukee/Chicago area that offers horse-drawn sleigh rides to the public. “Our horse-drawn sleigh ride experiences have become quite popular,” Dave Flannery says. “Guests just love the idea of riding in a sleigh drawn by a team of horses. This unique experience brings families and friends together for unforgettable fun and fond memories!”

Dave Flannery, owner of Apple Holler, has been using teams of Halflinger horses to pull the sleighs for the past 21 years. Halflinger horses, originate from Austria and their ancestors were bred for their temperament, hardiness and longevity. Their docile and sturdy characteristics make them a wonderful choice for sleigh rides.

horse-2Apple Holler offers nostalgic horse-drawn sleigh ride experiences that follow a trail through 78 acres of scenic orchard and woods, a true winter wonderland. Hearing the clump of the horses’ hooves through the crisp snow will transport the riders back to a simpler time. The sleigh rides are given whenever there is an adequate depth of snow. A horse-drawn wagon ride is offered as an alternative when snow cover is sparse. All rides include hot spiced apple cider or hot chocolate, a warm camp fire, s’mores and marshmallows to complete a wonderful winter outing. Dave also recommends bringing a camera and long carrots to feed the horses.

The cost for a horse-drawn sleigh or wagon ride is $75 for up to four people, and $10 for each additional person on the ride. Call (262) 884-7100 or 1-800-238-3629 for further information or to arrange a sleigh ride any day of the week, days or evenings. Apple Holler is located between Racine and Kenosha, on the west frontage road off I-94, just north of the highway KR exit.
