Man charged with armed robbery after pulling a knife on store employees

william-dow William C Dow, 39 of Racine has been charged with Armed Robbery,Resisting or Obstructing an Officer and Bail Jumping-Misdemeanor. He was given a $1,000 cash bond after appearing in Racine Circuit Courts on Monday December 5th. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 14th.

According to the criminal complaint on December 2,2016, Mount Pleasant Police were dispatched to Menards located at 3101 S Oakes reference a shoplifting in progress. As officers were responding they were notified that the defendant took items from the store and had knives in his possession and had pulled a 4″ knife on employees of Menards and was running from the scene.

A responding officer found the defendant underneath a vehicle in the parking lot of Bodycoat and ordered him out at gunpoint where he was taken into custody.

The complaint states that the defendant stole six items including 2 knives according to the store that was caught on video footage. When approached by loss prevention personnel at Menards he stated that he didn’t do anything, and pulled a knife from his pocket, as security continued to follow hi, the defendant allegedly pulled another knife from his pocket and continued to flee until Mount Pleasant Police took him into custody.
