A Racine couple is facing charges of an alleged OD in a bathroom and then striking an off duty Caledonia Police Officer with a car as they were trying to leave
Michelle Smith is has been charged with Possession of Narcotic Drugs, Possess Drug Paraphernalia and Resisting or Obstructing an Officer. Dallas Gomez has been charged with Negligent Operation of Motor Vehicle.
According to the criminal complaint on December 13,2016, Caledonia Police were dispatched to Pick N Save located at 5111 Douglas Ave for a report of an overdose in the bathroom, while en route radio reports came in that an off duty Caledonia Police Officer had been struck by a vehicle in the parking lot.
Upon arrival officers located the off duty officer who had the male party detained and stated that the female walking away was the overdose victim. Officers yelled for the female defendant to stop and finally was able to detain her.
According to the off duty officer, he was inside shopping when a female employee said there was an unresponsive female in the bathroom. The officer was able to locate the parties and followed them to the the vehicle where he stated he was standing behind the vehicle telling the defendants he was an officer and to stop. The officer was struck twice but was not injured. Officers then located evidence of drug use in the restroom including a tin cape, alcohol wipe and bottle with unknown fluids in it. The cap tested positive for heroin
